NEW COUNTRY MUSIC GROUP - Hervey Bay
We have just started a country music group in Hervey Bay called COOL COUNTRY.
We have our practice sessions at the Hervey Bay Hotel, cnr Watson and Thomas Sts, PIALBA, Hervey Bay in one of their well appointed downstairs function rooms, every Thursday evening from 7pm till about 9.30pm. The Hotel overlooks the Esplanade and the beautiful Bay.
We have an excellent band led by NZ'er Glenn Hand, who has had a wealth of experience playing for top NZ singers such as Brendan Dugan, Eddie Lowe, Suzanne Prentice, Gray Bartlett and many, many more. He has also played for Entertainer of the Year Shows.
We are holding an Open Walk-up Day on Sunday October 3 2010 from 1pm until around 4.30pm and hope to see other artists as well as country music fans, come along and join us.
In future the Walk-up Days are going to be held on the last Sunday of every month in the same hotel but in one of the upstairs function rooms.
We'll also have raffles and a lucky door prize all for $3pp.
Reasonably priced meals, and refreshments can be purchased in the hotel dining room.

Our Socials will be held on the 1st Sunday of each month 12.30pm at The Chermside Bowls Club, Rode Road, CHERMSIDE.
The aim of our club is to provide a great afternoon of entertainment and fellowship for country music lovers and a monthly social where members and their families can relax and enjoy their music and that of their fellow members.

Country Duo "LEFT OF CENTER" Are Lured to Nashville
Australia's latest country music duo; "Left of Center" are heading to Nashville.
Kodie Maree and Kylie Moss who make up the popular Queensland duo "Left of Center" have been invited to Nashville to write and record songs with the who’s who of the country music fraternity including promoter Stephen Wrench and top country producer, Mark Oliverius.
Left of Center exploded onto the country music scene in 2004 with a bunch of original songs including "Sitting Pretty", "Only One To Blame", "Runaway Railway Line" and many more songs which they performed at the Gympie Muster, Urban Country, Telstra Road to Tamworth and New Zealand. These songs came from the highly successful EP "Sitting Pretty".
Kyle and Kodie will also be given the opportunity to meet with major Nashville record company's and other artist representatives.
Kodee Marie said "This is a once in a life-time opportunity. We have struggled for so long for recognition in Australia and now we have the opportunity of fast tracking our career in Nashville".
The girls broke down in tears and cried when they received the call from Nashville earlier this week. The former singing teacher and pupil will head to Nashville in the coming months and are currently seek sponsorship.

ROCKING ROD - "The One Man Band"
Rod Rowe started playing drums at age 12 - learning under the professional eye of the late Master Drummer - Harry Lebler. Rod later diversified to bass guitar and rhythm guitar. He accomplished his Theory Grades of Music (A.M.E.B.) through the Conservatorium of Music in Queensland and starting teaching music, himself, in the 1980's.
Over the years he has played and helped back various bands and artists with different styles ranging from Country, Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Rock 'n roll and Cabaret.
As a drummer, Rod has backed and gone on tour with some of the following artists:
The Drifters - renouned for their world hit "Under the Board Walk";
Col Joye - 60's star;
Maria Dallas;
Pat Gabbie and his fashion show;
International Star - Jade Hurley

Rod's teaching history includes: Woodridge State High School in 1985 - Drummers in the 11th regional cadet unit band; Sound Waves Music Shop - Drums. He has conducted music workshops and taught drums, bass and rhythm guitar at the following Government Centres under a government scheme for 4 years: Beaudesert CYSS; Beenleigh CYSS; Woodridge CYSS.
He has also done session and studio work on other peoples C.D.'s and has written, composed, arranged and produced his own Instrumental C.D., Childrens' C.D. and Gospel C.D.
Rod's newest venture is his One Man Band Show in which he plays a minimum of 3 instruments at once while he sings, at times adding the harmonica in as a 4th instrument.
His repertoire covers a wide range of music styles including 60's & 70's, Country, Rock 'n Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, Soul Music.

BREANNA IS CHOSEN TO ATTEND SONGWRITING WORKSHOP
Breanna Gerritsen has been chosen as one of 8 in Queensland to attend a Ralph Murphy song writing workshop at QUI ICI in Kelvin Grove on the 23rd and 24th June.
Ralph Murphy is a well known Nashville songwriter who has written hits for Crystale Gayle and Jeannie C Riley just to name a couple. He is famous for Murphy's Laws of Songwriting which can be viewed on his web site

AMANDA HALLORAN - Update
Amanda Halloran Independent Singer/ Songwriter graduated in 2006 from the CMAA Australian Country Music College, won the title of 2008's QUT Voice of Urban Country, a 2008 & 2010 Toyota Star Maker Finalist Amanda just walked her first Red Carpet. The 27 yr old was nominated as a Top 10 Blues n Roots Finalist for 2010 for her song "I Should've Known" & a Top 50 Country Finalist for her co-written tune with producer - Brendan Radford - "Not That Into Me" - in the 2010 Music Oz Awards.
Amanda's debut album - "I Wanna Know" released in May 2009 at the Urban Country Music Festival is available for download at the Itunes Store, or you can order it online with WJO Distribution & Rocking Horse Records. The debut single "Not That Into Me" climbed the charts & her film clip directed by award-winning director Ross Wood was listed in CMC - Top 50 clips for 2009.
Amanda's album consisting mainly of original content & a few co-writes with her producer Brendan, was CD of the week with Darryl Kirkup on CMR live to Nashville & a playlist ad single on CMR Online with Nick Erby. 2011 WINTERSUN GOES TO NSW
Port Macquarie will host Australia's largest rock n' roll nostalgia event - the Wintersun Festival - from 2011.
NSW Arts Minister Virginia Judge said the festival, which has been held in Queensland since 1978, will inject $25 million into the NSW economy every year.
The Wintersun Festival is a 1950s and 60s nostalgia event that features rockabilly shows, hot rod car displays and dance competitions.
"The deal has been struck for an initial three-year period with the option to extend for a further six years.
"Our agreement has been structured so the Wintersun Festival will be held in a different regional location every year to ensure the economic benefits are shared around the state.
"I am pleased to announce that Port Macquarie has been chosen to host the first festival in June next year because of its strong reputation as a tourism leader."
"The Wintersun festival is set to become a high value regional event exclusive to NSW."

MELISSA THOMSON - Update for 2010
Last weekend Melissa Thomson won the Junior Section at the Urban Country Festival in Caboolture which was an achievment after nearly 2 days of heats, her sister Kimberly also made it to the Grand Final.
Before that Melissa entered into 2 other festivals, The Greenbank Show Country Music Talent Quest where she won the Overall Junior and Overall Festival.
Tamworth was also a very successful festival where she and her sister Kimberly were Grand finalists in the Aristrocrat Entertainer of the Year
Placed in Busking out of nearly 100 buskers, placed in the Jazzer Quest out of around 100 contestants, placed in the CCMA National Talent Search in Junior vocal, gospel and open duet section with her sister Kimberly who also placed in the Juvenile sections.

CLELIA ADAMS
Clelia Adams started her career in music as a girl Friday/journalist for Go-Set magazine in the late 60's, then into Product and Marketing for WEA Records in Sydney & London in the 70's. A move to Tamworth in the mid 70's saw the beginnings of a professional career as a session singer that spanned 25 years in every studio in town, up until the year 2000, when came a green sea change to Mullumbimby, on the far north coast of NSW.
Clelia's national and international country music profile has grown enormously in the past 8 years, starting with the release of "BRING IT ON" in 2001. "HEARTBEAT HIGHWAY" came in 2005 and continued the trend of massive global airplay for her music. It also won her a TIARA (Tamworth Independent Artists Recognition Awards) in 2006, and many new international fans, with this album yielding 6 Top 10's on the European charts. Her music has consistently rated in the Top 10 on the European (ECMA) and Australian (Countrytracks Top 30) country music charts.
2008 saw the release of new album "Wildflowers", a collection of personal favourites and originals. CM Industry acknowledgement came with the induction of Clelia to the 2008 Australian Country Music Wall of Honour in Tamworth, for her services to the professional recording industry. "Wildflowers" continued to receive massive global industry acclaim and recognition, with the song taking out awards throughout 2008, including the 2008 Northern Territory Song of the Year" and a double winner at the 2008 NSW Gold Medallion Awards in Tamworth for 2008 Female Vocalist of the Year and 2008 Songwriter of the Year for "Wildflowers".
A self-confessed 60's kid, Clelia's evocative retro music mix has captivated the Ausssie and international country music world. Her blend of traditional roots classic country, western swing, honky tonk, country rock & rockabilly is a mighty infectious combination. Audiences around the world agree.
July 2009 came news of Clelia's unprecedented four nominations in the 2008/2009 European Country Music Awards. Song of the Year for "Wildflowers', Artist of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year, and Newcomer Artist of the Year, the only Australian artist amongst internationals Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift.
Clelia was inducted into the 2010 Hand of Fame in Tamworth in January. She continues to perform at venues in the Northern Rivers and all major country music festivals around Australia. The Mullum Music Festival, the Gympie Muster, Tamworth, Wauchope and Mildura Independents festival.

8 BALL AITKEN - Black Swamp Creek Australian Tour
Hi Folks,
We had a fantastic time in performing at the Folk Alliance International Festival in Memphis. My shows all went well, and we met some wonderful people at the conference. As always, Memphis was an inspiring place - the home of blues and soul, with music spilling out onto the streets. Beale Street by night is not to be missed!
We also recorded a new track in Nashville -- will have it mixed and ready soon enough. Nashville is another of those unique places in the world where everyday life revolves around music - it's in the air there.
Tomorrow night (at Rooty Hill in Sydney) we start our "BLACK SWAMP CREEK" East Coast (plus Darwin) Australian tour. The gigs this weekend are in Sydney and Melbourne.

FIDDLE PLAYER WANTED:-
The Wild Oats country music Group is seeking a fiddle player to join its ranks. Formed some 18 months ago, the Group presently has three members (Pete Cathcart, Greg O'Grady and Ron Linning) who collectively play acoustic Guitar, Bass, Banjo, Mandolin and Harmonica. At present, two (Peter and Greg) of the existing three members share lead singing duties. The group had its origin within the Redlands Modern Country Music Club (RMCMC) which is based at Thornlands (adjacent to Cleveland) and practices regularly at Eight Mile Plains (adjacent to Sunnybank and Upper Mount Gravatt).
The style of music is best described as cross-over country/lite bluegrass/gospel featuring vocal harmonies as a cornerstone. We are, however, married to no particular genre and choose material based upon the song's quality, appeal and suitability of fit with our instrumentation and vocal style.
The fiddle is sought as the primary lead instrument.

BUS TRIP TO TAMWORTH - January 2011
We have a trip to Tamworth in 2011 and we start from Howard, Maryborough, Hervey Bay and anywhere down to Brisbane through to Warwick, Toowoomba down to Tamworth.
We usually go down from the last Tuesday of the festival and return on the Last Sunday.
The 2011 trip is for $575.00 which is for bus, bed & breakfast. The accommodation is dormitory style with up to 13 in each room depending on numbers. There is a set of bunk beds, set of lockers etc. You need to take sheets, pillow, blanket if required, fold up chair.
The breakfast is a full cooked breakfast with cereals, toast, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, omelets, pancakes & tomatoes.
We are leaving on the 18th January 2011 and returning on the 23rd January 2011.

Born in Townsville, North Queensland, Rosanna grew up in a musical family, and commenced singing at an early age.
Rosanna performs a mixture of music styles. From classic country to country rock, and classic gold, and has been known to bring a tear to an audience member's eye whilst performing a beautiful ballad. Rosanna makes the audience feel the song that she is performing.
During her career, Rosanna has performed at many venues, clubs, hotels and private functions, music festivals and restaurants in Australia, Europe and New Zealand. Rosanna is a vibrant lady who can rock it along with the best of them and is currently in high demand for return appearances wherever she appears.
In 1998, Rosanna moved to the Sunshine Coast to be closer to family, and quickly became a much sought after artist on the coast.
In 2003, Rosanna released her first CD "The Rose" containing 22 songs.
In 2005 released her second CD "Country Favourites" containing 17 songs.
2008 released her third CD "Country Silhouette" containing 22 songs.
These CD's are receiving airplay on Australian & Overseas Radio. Rosanna is currently making plans for her tour which will take her to North and Western Queensland and the highlight will be her return visit to perform in New Zealand and Norfolk Island.
Rosanna has performed at various country music clubs in Queensland, Northern Territory New South Wales and Victoria. and in 2005 was the chosen guest artist for the commencement of The Caloundra Country & Blues Club.
Rosanna is always ready to help out with fundraisers, charity shows, Aged and nursing homes when requested.
Rosanna has performed at the "Relay of Life Cancer Research Fundraiser" for the past six years
Rosanna performed at the Mildura Country Music Festival 2007,2009 and has been invited back to perform in September, 2010.

NEW WEB SITE FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS TO BE LISTED
Good Afternoon Ian,
I was wondering if you might be interested in helping us to advertise our new website which is designed to assist in making the profiles of Up and coming Country Music Independant Artists higher and also help to advertise our annual event of the Meet and Greet which we held in Tamworth this year for the first time whereby all Artists and fans feedback is 100% positive and they all want us to go ahead next year and every year after that.
